This week we're kicking off our March full of films directed by women to celebrate Women's History Month! And what better way to start than by choosing the movie about the craziest, silliest, and most detestable man – Patrick Bateman. That's right, it's time for Mary Harron's 2000 film: American Psycho. American Psycho is a satirical horror film dir. Harron, based on the book of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis. Starring Christian Bale, Willem Dafoe, and Jared Leto (among many others), this movie follows the story of a New York City investment banker who leads a double life as a serial killer. The film blends slasher, horror, and black comedy to satirize 1980s yuppie culture and consumerism, exemplified by one Mr. Bateman. Given Patrick's snarky obsession with musicians and music, the movie made sure that a great soundtrack accompanied it.
